THE KUMARAKOM BACKWATERS



    Kumarakom, a village located 16 kilometres east to Kottayam town, is a fast growing backwater tourism destination in Kerala. Set in the backdrop of the Vembanad Lake, Kumarakom is well known for its panoramic backwater stretches, rich green paddy fields, dense mangrove forests and coconut groves.

From Nedumbassery International  Airport (90Kms) and Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (180Kms), tourists can reach by road. Distances to other tourist centres from Kumarakom are Thekkady – 125Kms, Munnar – 165 Kms and Vagamon – 78Kms.
